Vote to help get money for trails and IMBA

IMBA Trail Care Crew 100K Pepsi Refresh Grant - Vote Today!
release by IMBA Canada
September 13, 2010 - The Trans Canada Trail, national partner of IMBA Canada, is in the running for a $100K Pepsi Refresh Grant to help fund the IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew. Please show your support for trails by voting today, and voting every day until Oct. 31st! If selected winner, the $100,000 would help to fund the Trail Care Crew program for 2011, and help to educate volunteers across the country on how to build sustainable trails.

Directed by IMBA Canada and sponsored by Parks Canada and the Trans Canada Trail, the newly launched IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew travels across the country in a 2010 Subaru Outback, giving workshops to IMBA clubs, Parks Canada sites, and Trans Canada Trail local, provincial and territorial organizations.

Fielded by a full time, two-person team, the Trail Care Crew educates Canadians on how to build sustainable trails, maintain and restore existing trails, solve trail management challenges, and to promote trails. For more information on the program, contact program coordinator Rachael.raven@imba.com.

Request a Trail Care Crew Visit
Please use our online application form to request an IMBA Canada Trail Care Crew Visit for 2011. The application deadline is Nov 30, 2010. When selecting Trail Care Crew visit locations, we consider many factors, including input from IMBA staff, IMBA representatives, land managers, past crew visits and IMBA members. We regret that we can not accommodate all visit requests.

If you have any questions, please email Rachael.raven@imba.com.

Tour Opportunity

My name is Gord Litster and I am a member of the Sidney Velos (a masters road bike club in Victoria, BC).  My wife (from this area) and I are hosting 2 guided tours (a brisk pace and relaxed pace) and 1 semi guided tour in our 3 houses and 1 apartment in the village of Valle San Giovanni. These itineraries extend from the stunning Apennine Mountains in the west to the beautiful Adriatic Beaches in the east.  These tours are designed to give the cyclist some great riding on country roads while taking in genuine village life.  Our groups are small and personable, typically 6 to 9 persons and are fully supported.
*** Note HBCC is not associated with this Tour ****

The diversified countryside of the province of Abruzzo includes all types of terrain, great climbs with  spectacular scenery, long thrilling descents and flat river valleys. The May tour has reduced hills, a relaxed pace and mileage averaging about 55km/day.  The June tour is at a brisk pace and averages about 90 km/day.  Both tours include one full rest day and are fully supported with sag wagon.

Our  2010 tours were fantastic.  We have added some extra special events for our guests that have been really well received. These have included participation in a Gran Fondo, visiting a new bike wear factory (great prices factory direct) and an amazing private dinner put on by a local chef and wine/liquor distibutor.  Email me for the detailed itineraries and price discounts for early booking and group discount.  We also have info on our website, however we do not do bookings on it.  We still prefer to talk to everyone and ensure it is what they are looking for.

The more tours we do here, the more we realize what a special place in the world we have.  It really is cycling paradise.  We have tried to capture some of this in our new website.

Ciao Anita and Gord Litster

PS We are back to Italy Sept 17th to Oct 5th as we are hosting a private tour for an Edmonton Club.  Feel free to share this with any of your cycling friends.
